A Lebanese legend opens Oslo World. The Lebanese oud player, singer, and composer Marcel Khalife is a folk hero in the Arab world. With a career spanning six decades, he has combined effortless mastery of his instrument with political outspokenness and poetry. When he first set the words of the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish to music, he had no idea it was the prelude to a meeting that would forge a deep and enduring friendship between the two men a few years later---even as the songs themselves resonated across the globe. Promises of the Storm was influenced by Arab-Andalusian traditions and contemporary Middle Eastern politics. Channeling the poetry by Dahrwish and his Palestinian compatriot Izzidine Al Munassrah, Khalifé sung in colloquial Arabic. It was his way of dignifying the common people. The album became iconic in the Arab community and beyond, and to mark the fiftieth anniversary, Marcel Khalife has re-recorded it as a solo project. To have Marcel Khalife opening our festival has been a dream for many years. We are proud to present him this year, in a format stripped down to its bare essential: his magnificently seasoned tenor voice accompanied solely by his most faithful companion, the oud. After the concert in the Chateau Neuf Auditorium, the Swiss/Moroccan multi-instrumentalist Sami Galbi will play at Betong, where the opening party continues. All tickets for Marcel Khalife automatically include entry to Sami Galbi's concert at Betong later that night.

Futuristic North African dance party. The Swiss and Moroccan multi-instrumentalist and producer Sami Galbi draws on the music of his childhood, which he rediscovered as an adult in the Cabarets of Casablanca: raï and chaâbi music, interpreted in Galbi's own way, with analog machines, guitar effects and synthesizer. He has emerged from the alternative scenes of Switzerland in recent years, drawing on parallel musical influences such as US hip-hop, UK bass, house and Afro-Caribbean dance music. The North African folk music of his childhood is modulated, given pop texture and a dense club atmosphere. On his debut album, YLH BYE BYE, the listener is immersed in a rich poetic where Sami Galbi's storytelling unfolds through hypnotic refrains and soaring melodies. Entirely produced by the artist, the music was mixed by Tunisian producer Ammar 808. In concert, Sami Galbi delivers high energy performances, well suited for the opening party of this years Oslo World. All tickets for the opening concert by Marcel Khalife at Chateau Neuf automatically include entry to Sami Galbi's concert at Betong later that night.

This year's All Saints' concert features the world premiere of the final work by Torbjørn Dyrud. The piece is scored for choir, narrator, string trio, and wind trio, and was commissioned by Oslo Cathedral Choir and Bergen Cathedral Choir. Between the movements, texts describing near-death experiences will be read aloud. The work will be performed simultaneously in Oslo Cathedral and Bergen Cathedral, in addition to concerts at Hoff Church on November 14 and Bragernes Church on November 15. Composer and musician Torbjørn Dyrud lived with a serious cancer diagnosis for seven years. He passed away on July 19 this year, shortly after delivering the completed work to us. During his final years, he found great comfort in accounts of near-death experiences and other similarly incomprehensible phenomena. Torbjørn was a deeply optimistic person, and part of the intention behind this work was to encourage us, here on earth, to recognize more clearly that the world is in fact filled with light and love. Near-death experiences are stories and encounters that challenge our understanding of reality at a fundamental level. Many people who have had such experiences insist that who we truly are continues to exist even after the death of the physical body. In the void left by Torbjørn's passing, we return to the intention behind the work and read what Torbjørn himself wrote in a new light: "For me, as a church musician, this literature has opened up my spiritual life in a fundamental way. It seems increasingly credible that accounts of a more real reality, beyond time and space, a state in which unconditional love fills everything, are simply true. Something within me opens up when I read these personal narratives in the light of the Bible and other historical sources." Requiem lasts approximately 45 minutes. The concert will also feature three of Torbjørn's other well-known songs and hymns composed for choir. The total duration of the concert is approximately one hour. Program: Soon She Kisses Her Friend in the Rose Garden (Snart kysser hun sin venn i rosenhagen) by Torbjørn Dyrud, with text by Inger Hagerup. Come, Breath of Life (Kom livspust) by Torbjørn Dyrud, with text by Ingrid B. Melve. With a Bouquet (Med en bukett) by Torbjørn Dyrud, with text by Henrik Wergeland. Arthur Honegger (1892--1955) composed Le roi David in 1921 for a stage drama by René Morax. The work combines narrated text, soloists, choir, and instrumental ensemble in a form that lies somewhere between an oratorio and musical theatre. Its music brings together archaic elements, French modernism, and liturgically inspired choral writing, and the work has come to occupy an important place in the European sacred music repertoire. The story follows the biblical King David, from his youth as a shepherd and musician in the fields of Bethlehem to his reign as King of Israel. It is a narrative of triumph, doubt, and human vulnerability. In the Christian tradition, David is also associated with the authorship of several of the Psalms, making him a symbolic figure for church music, praise, and worship. Award winning comedian Pernille Haaland (HBO Max, Netflix, Discovery, NRK, TV2) returns with a brand-new hour of stand-up -- cool, cutting, and unapologetically Nordic. From the surreal experience of performing stand-up for NATO to navigating life as a single woman fully armed with reproductive rights, Pernille Haaland finds herself at war -- not with tanks or weapons, but with a political landscape that threatens every single lady who dares to be more than a womb. With icy precision she chips away at the status quo, dissecting hypocrisy and the freedom of refusing to settle for anyone who can't handle your thermal underwear... Smart, fearless, and glacially composed, Time Out calls her "Hilarious" -- and audiences around the world agree. As the world heats up, the best response is to keep a very cool head. PERNILLE HAALAND IS BACK with a brand-new hour as part of her European tour! During recent years, Pernille has been writing for TV, performing internationally, and building a reputation as one of Europe's sharpest comedic voices. With a fresh perspective on the world, the new show promises to be DARK, Inquisitive, and Hilariously Nordic. After the success of her performances across Europe and appearances on major platforms, Pernille Haaland has: • toured extensively across Europe (40 countries) and performed at international festivals • received critical acclaim and award recognition • appeared on Netflix, HBO Max, Discovery, NRK, and TV2 • performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2016 • won "Best Standup Comedian" at the Reykjavik Fringe Festival 2024 and nominated "Best Comedian RDK Norway 2025" The event has an 18-year age limit with ID requirement. World-class performance by Etoile Production. The world-famous ballet Nutcracker performed by Ukrainian ballet stars will be a magical Christmas gift for the whole family! A beautiful fairy tale about the adventures of young Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, full of exciting stories, was transformed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky in 1892 into the world's most popular classical ballet. Today, the Nutcracker has become a global Christmas tradition, and this performance is staged annually on theater and opera stages around the world. The universal language of dance is understood without translation by any audience - the stage will present a coming-of-age story about children, revealing a young girl's fragile dream and the struggle between good and evil, where love ultimately triumphs. Dancing snowflakes, the Nutcracker Prince, toy soldiers and the Sugar Plum Fairy come to life in this magical family classic. Experience a wonderful adventure with the little girl Clara, who falls asleep on Christmas Eve. She meets her prince, faces a battle against enormous mice and rats, and is transported to the lush Sugar Land. The story is much more than just a Christmas fairy tale. It is a tale of growing up, which is also reflected in the dance. Now is the time to immerse yourself in this magical world, forget about worries and stress, remember childhood dreams and fill your soul with inspiration, warmth and new dreams. The perfect ballet for children The Nutcracker is an ideal ballet for children to experience for the first time. If you are going to the ballet with a child, we recommend reading Hoffman's Nutcracker and The Musketeer together. You can also read the libretto at https://www.kulturforfolket.com/performance/the-nutcracker, where you will find descriptions of each ballet scene that can help you answer your child's questions. In addition, this ballet will bring a sense of wonder and beauty to both young and adult audience members, filling everyone with the Christmas spirit! Authentic Classical Ballet The performance of Marius Petipa's classical choreography is performed by Etoile Production -- a company organized in Kyiv by soloists of the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, Irina and Anatoly Khandazhevsky. The performers include professional ballet dancers of the highest level -- winners of international ballet competitions, Honored Artists of Ukraine, soloists of Ukrainian, and from February 2022, European theatres. The company uses authentic, handmade theatre costumes and decor in its productions. The costumes are real professional ballet costumes, carefully designed so that they do not constrain the dancers' movements and allow them to fully demonstrate their skill on stage. A professional theatre lighting designer accompanies the ballet performance and creates an unforgettable atmosphere during the show. There are no cheap decorations or flashy decorations -- only true high art of professional theatre performance. The ballet is accompanied live by a string quartet, which gives the performance an intimate and warm Christmas atmosphere. The quartet performs on stage as part of the production and plays during key scenes, creating a close connection between music and dance. In addition, the performance uses a high-quality recording of the Kharkiv Opera Orchestra, which is combined with the live quartet to support the action on stage. This is a unique opportunity to see real classical ballet of the highest level, performed by world ballet stars, with live music on stage. Ballet soloists: Irina Khandazhevskaya, prima ballerina, Honored Artist of Ukraine, soloist of the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theater, choreographer, diploma winner of the International Ballet Competition "Premio Roma". Nixi Music and Merci Life present Peia Kulturkirken Jakob --- Saturday 24 April 2027 Fathoms Deep Release Tour Celebrating her first full-length solo album in more than a decade, the acclaimed singer and songwriter brings intimate new songs and traditional music from across cultures to this atmospheric Oslo venue. Known for a voice that moves effortlessly between the ancient and the immediate, Peia has spent much of the past twelve years gathering and carrying traditional songs across cultures. Her work explores the places where music, ancestry and memory meet, breathing new life into songs passed down through generations. With Fathoms Deep, Peia turns her gaze inward. Written through a period of profound change, the album moves through loss, grief and the nearness of death, toward beauty, renewal and the redemptive force of love. Where her earlier songwriting often spoke to our shared human experience, these songs draw more directly from her own life. These are songs of surrender and devotion, of what falls away and what remains when we meet life without armour. Her connection to traditional music remains woven throughout the record, while a more vulnerable and unguarded voice emerges in her songwriting. Co-produced with Trewin Howard of Phoria, Fathoms Deep places Peia's unmistakable voice within a spacious, cinematic soundscape. Organic instrumentation, subtle electronic elements and atmospheric textures create a rich landscape around the songs, preserving their intimacy at its heart. In the evocative setting of Kulturkirken Jakob, Peia will perform music from the new album alongside songs from across her body of work. Moving between original compositions and the traditional songs that have shaped her musical life, the concert offers a journey through grief and beauty, ancestry and belonging, darkness and renewal. At its heart, Fathoms Deep explores what happens when we descend fully into the depths of human experience and discover that love is still there. Doors open: 19.00 Concert starts: 20.00

One of the UK's biggest pop bands of all time is finally coming to Norway. On Friday 18 June 2027, Take That will play their first-ever concert in Norway at Tjuvholmen in Oslo, as part of the outdoor concert series St. Hans på Tjuvholmen. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen have sold more than 45 million records and scored 12 UK number-one singles. With hits including Back for Good, Patience, Rule the World and Shine, Take That have built an iconic catalogue of songs and a fanbase spanning generations. "We've wanted to bring Take That to Norway for a long time, so we're incredibly excited that we can finally make it happen! This will be Take That's first-ever show in Norway, and with their incredible catalogue of songs and a fanbase spanning generations, we believe an outdoor concert at Tjuvholmen is the perfect setting. It's going to be a very special night in Oslo," says Sam Bush, Senior Promoter at All Things Live. The Tjuvholmen concert will be part of the Dreamers Tour 2027, Take That's biggest European tour in several years. The tour currently consists of 24 shows across 24 cities in 14 countries, taking the band to festivals, outdoor venues and some of Europe's most iconic concert arenas throughout the summer of 2027. On the tour, Take That will combine classics from their extensive catalogue with new music from Dreamers, the band's tenth studio album, which is due for release later this year. The new single Feel My Love, a collaboration with Michael Patrick Kelly, will be released on 4 September. More than 30 years after their breakthrough, Take That remain one of the UK's biggest live acts. In 2023, the band released This Life, which debuted at number one on the UK album chart and became the best-selling album of the year by a British artist. The subsequent This Life On Tour sold more than 700,000 tickets across the UK in 2024. 2026 has been no different. In February, the Netflix documentary Take That was released, and this summer the band wrapped up their extensive The Circus Live stadium tour across the UK and Ireland, selling more than 736,000 tickets. On Friday 18 June 2027, it's Norway's turn as Take That take to the stage at Tjuvholmen for their first-ever concert in the country. The concert is part of St. Hans på Tjuvholmen, an outdoor concert series bringing major artists to Tjuvholmen in the heart of Oslo. With the Oslo Fjord as a backdrop, the setting is perfect for a very special summer evening as one of the UK's most successful pop bands finally takes the stage in Norway.
